How Your Energy Is Meant to Move

Before finding Human Design, I already felt there were certain things I was deeply meant to do. There were paths, moves, and decisions that came with an almost undeniable inner knowing. An inner urge I couldn’t always logically explain, but felt deeply called to trust. I remember even as a teenager having a clear sense that I was meant to leave the place I grew up and eventually move to California. It wasn’t something I could fully explain, but it felt certain.

What Human Design gave me wasn’t a new identity or a set of rules to follow. It felt more like a practical framework for understanding how my energy naturally moves, how I make decisions, and how to work with myself in a way that feels more easeful and aligned.

Learning my type didn’t box me in. It gave language to things I had already been experiencing my whole life.

Understanding My Energy as a Manifestor

As I started to understand my own design, one of the biggest shifts came from learning that I’m a Manifestor. In Human Design, Manifestors make up only about 8–10% of the population and are here to initiate, spark movement, and set things into motion by following their inner urges, often before there’s a clear external path. For me, though, that realization wasn’t really about being “someone who initiates.” It was about recognizing how deeply connected I’ve always been to my own inner urges.

There have been so many moments in my life where I just knew I had to do something. Move somewhere. Change direction. Say yes to something that didn’t fully make sense yet. It didn’t always come with a clear plan, and it definitely didn’t always feel logical. My mind would try to catch up, trying to map it out, make it make sense, and figure out the right sequence of steps. But underneath that, there was always something deeper... a knowing that didn’t need explanation.

At the same time, I often felt misunderstood. There was this subtle experience of people reacting to me in ways I couldn’t fully explain. It felt like I wasn’t always being fully seen or met, which over time led me to question myself, hold back, and make myself smaller.

Understanding the nature of my Manifestor aura shifted that. There’s a certain density to it, a kind of closed, self-contained energy that people feel before anything is even said. Without context, that can be misread. It can create distance or reactions that don’t always make sense in the moment. Seeing that helped me separate what was mine from what wasn’t. It also brought me back to my voice.

One of the most tangible ways this showed up was through becoming a Lagree fitness instructor and later a meditation teacher. I had always identified as introverted and genuinely hated public speaking, so being on a mic didn’t make a lot of logical sense. But something about guiding people through an experience, sharing tools and practices that had deeply impacted my own life, and creating spaces for transformation was calling me.

Looking back, it was an inner urge that led me there, combined with learning how to use my voice in an authentic way to share practices and experiences that had genuinely transformed my own life.

When I started consciously using it, I noticed something shift. When I spoke things out loud, what I was moving toward, what I was ready for, what I desired, things would move. Conversations would open. Opportunities would show up. Timing would shift in ways that felt almost immediate. It wasn’t subtle. It felt like my words were creating movement in real time.

That’s when, my Human Design Manifestor experiment started to click for me. Not as a rule to live by, but as a real life practice. A way of working with my energy instead of against it, and creating clarity around me so my energy could move more freely. It also softened a lot of the resistance I had experienced before.

More than anything, this gave me permission. Permission to trust the urges I’ve always felt. Permission to move without needing to over-explain or over-justify. Permission to stop trying to make myself smaller just to be more easily understood. Understanding my energy didn’t change who I was. It helped me trust it.

The Energy Types: How It Actually Feels

While this is my experience as a Manifestor, what I’ve come to see is that each energy type has its own way of moving through the world. Each type has a different feel, a different rhythm, and a different way of interacting with life.

Understanding your type is like the first step in reading your own manual. It shows you how your body responds, what creates flow, what creates resistance, and what feels natural versus what feels like force.

Understanding your type doesn’t mean putting yourself into a box. It gives you a starting point. A way to understand your energy so you can begin working with it instead of against it. Here is how I’ve come to experience each of the types:

Generators

Generator energy feels steady, grounded, and deeply alive.

There is a natural life force here. A consistent, building energy that is meant to be used on the things that genuinely light you up. When that energy is being used in the right way, there is a sense of satisfaction. A feeling of being fully engaged in what you are doing and having the energy to keep going.

Where things tend to feel off is when that energy is being given to the wrong things. Overcommitting, saying yes when it is not a full-body yes, or staying in situations that feel draining.

Generators are not here to force or initiate from the mind. They are here to respond. To let life come to them and notice what their body naturally lights up for. When that happens, things begin to flow.

Manifesting Generators

Manifesting Generators carry a similar life force energy, but it moves faster and more dynamically.

This energy feels multi-directional. It is not meant to move in a straight line. There is often a natural pull toward multiple interests, projects, and passions. When that is honored, there is a sense of excitement and satisfaction, sometimes even a deeper layer of peace.

Where resistance shows up is when there is pressure to pick one thing or move at a pace that does not feel natural, or when there is an expectation that others will keep up.

This energy is designed to move and pivot quickly by following what feels alive in the moment. When that is allowed, everything opens up.

Projectors

Projector energy feels focused, perceptive, and deeply attuned to others.

There is a natural ability to see how things work, how energy flows, and what could be improved. It is less about doing and more about guiding and directing energy in a way that brings efficiency and clarity. When this is recognized and valued, there is a feeling of success. A sense of being seen for what you naturally offer.

Where it can feel challenging is when that guidance is shared in spaces that are not ready for it, or when there is pressure to keep up with more constant, output-based energy. That often leads to exhaustion or a sense of bitterness.

Projectors are not here to force their way or their perspective onto others. They are here to be recognized and invited in. When their perspective is genuinely wanted and received, their insights land in a completely different way. They are not just heard, but felt, integrated, and valued. This is where their gifts really come to life.

When they honor their need for rest, space, and depth, what they offer becomes naturally magnetic.

Reflectors

Reflector energy feels fluid, sensitive, and deeply connected to the environment. There’s an openness here. A capacity to take in and reflect the energy of the people and spaces around them, often with a level of awareness that others might miss.

I’ve experienced this firsthand with my sibling, who is a Reflector. There have been moments where I’ve seen my own internal state reflected back to me so clearly through them. If I was holding tension or frustration, I would see it mirrored back in their energy. And when I was more grounded, open, or expansive, that would be reflected too.

It’s shown me how deeply Reflectors pick up on what’s around them, and how they can act as a kind of mirror for the people in their lives. Because of this, their environment matters deeply. When they’re in the right spaces, with the right people, there can be a sense of ease, curiosity, and even surprise at how things unfold. When something is off, it’s felt just as strongly.

Their energy isn’t meant to be consistent. It naturally ebbs and flows, and their work is not to force that into something steady, but to honor it. Having space to step away, reset, and come back to themselves is essential.

Bringing It Back to You

What I have come to see through all of this is that so much of what we experience as not working is not actually something wrong with us. It is often a mismatch between how we are trying to move through life and how our energy is actually designed to move.

When you start to understand your own energy, even at a basic level, it creates a different kind of awareness. You start noticing what feels natural, where you are forcing, and what your body is actually responding to.

From there, things begin to shift. Not all at once, but in small, real ways that build with experimenting with your design over time.

What Changed Everything for Me

Understanding my type was a starting point. What really changed things was learning how to work with it in real time — how I met challenges and discomfort in the moment, trusted myself more deeply, and moved through life with more flow and less force.

That is where things started to feel not just aligned, but tangible. I will be sharing more about that in the next post.
